T-Mobile Deutsche Telekom has revealed that it aims to begin mining Bitcoin, building on its existing crypto-related operations.
The telecoms company has had a Bitcoin node since 2023 and is now hosting Bitcoin Lightning Network nodes.
Dirk Röder, head of Web3 infrastructure and solutions at Deutsche Telekom, spoke at BTC Prague, saying:
We have been operating Bitcoin nodes since 2023 and Bitcoin Lightning nodes as well. I'd like to share a small secret with you: we're going to start using digital currency photosynthesis shortly.
T-Mobile is already Web3 native
Since June 2023, the company has been actively involved in Web3 as a Polygon validator, establishing a position to use its enormous infrastructure and generate new revenue.
Deutsche Telekom, one of 100 validators, has supplied staking and validation services on Polygon for over a year, contributing to the platform's proof-of-stake consensus mechanism.
Since February, fetch.ai has been a validator
In February, Fetch.ai, an independent artificial intelligence also known as AI platform, announced a collaboration with Deutsche Telekom to build enterprise AI.
As a validator on the Fetch.ai blockchain, the telecoms company contributes to the success of Fetch.ai's AI-powered autonomous agents.
These self-sufficient agents manage resources, conduct transactions, and analyze traffic flows to deliver services in healthcare, automotive, supply chain management, and digital identities.
